The Kailua Village Parade Committee is thrilled to announce the 2026 Kona Independence Day Parade & Fireworks Extravaganza in Historic Kailua Village.

This annual event brings together thousands of residents and visitors to celebrate Independence Day with aloha, showcasing our community’s spirit, culture, and pride.

This year’s celebration holds special significance as we join communities across the nation in commemorating the United States Semiquincentennial—a once-in-a-generation milestone honoring 250 years of American history, unity, and progress.

The parade theme, “America The Beautiful,” will inspire many creative expressions.

Everyone’s invited to come Celebrate America 250!

The festivities kick off at 5:30 p.m. with the Kona Marathon, followed by the Fourth of July Parade at 6:00 p.m.

The parade will begin near Kekuaokalani Gym on Kuakini Highway, proceeding through Aliʻi Drive and Historic Kailua Village.

At 8:00 p.m., a spectacular fireworks show will light up the sky over Kailua Bay, providing a fitting finale to the day’s celebrations.

Adding to the excitement, Tom Greenwell and his ‘ohana have been named Grand Marshals of the parade.

The Greenwell family has been integral to Kona’s heritage, cultivating coffee in Kealakekua since the 1870s and sharing the world-renowned taste of Kona coffee globally.

In addition to the parade and fireworks, attendees can explore recent developments in Kailua-Kona.

Kona Quantum Vitality, a new wellness center, celebrated its grand opening earlier this year, offering innovative approaches to rest, recovery, and whole-body vitality.

Food enthusiasts will be delighted by the return of Tante’s Local Grindz to Kailua-Kona after a 14-year absence, bringing back beloved Hawaiian and Filipino dishes.

Furthermore, the historic Kona Inn Restaurant has reopened under new local ownership, featuring a revamped menu and dining space while preserving its old-Hawaii charm.
