In Kailua-Kona, coffee festivals offer more than a good cup; they bring neighbors together around the crop that shapes this coast.

The Kona Coffee Cultural Festival begins November 6 with a Made in Hawaiʻi Artisan Market at Hale Halawai County Pavilion from 2 to 9 pm.

For shoppers exploring artisan markets, it is an early chance to browse locally made goods before an evening of performances.

A lantern parade travels from Kailua Pier to the pavilion from 6 to 7 pm, followed by a multicultural showcase.

That mix of craft, celebration and community is what makes the festival worth exploring beyond its coffee tastings.

On November 7, the Holualoa Coffee and Art Stroll fills historic Holualoa Village from 9 am to 2 pm.

Visitors can also stop by Holualoa Elementary School for its legacy project or find cultural activities at Donkey Mill Art Center.

The village setting offers a welcome change of pace from the busier Kailua-Kona waterfront.

November 8 brings a coffee recipe contest and Big Island showcase at Outrigger Kona Resort & Spa, alongside a pickleball tournament elsewhere in Kona.

Later coffee festival events take a more hands-on turn, with barista training November 9 and a latte art contest November 12.

A coffee-flavored supper club, storytelling night and coffee cocktail competition add different ways to experience the festival.

The calendar shifts again on November 14, when a half marathon starts at Coconut Grove Marketplace at 6 am.

That day’s Hoʻolauleʻa runs from 9 am to 3 pm at Makaeʻo Pavilion, before an evening grand finale.

The November 15 cupping competition awards ceremony gives coffee enthusiasts one last reason to gather.

Whether you come for the energy of the parade or a slower stroll through Holualoa, plan around the events that interest you most.

Venues and times vary, so leave room to travel between stops and enjoy the communities behind Kona coffee.
